WHO MATT IS AND WHAT HE DOES

From the onset of Matt McCoy’s career, his goal was to become a “fully accomplished” experiential theme designer. This goal was aquired through planning, skill development and through formal education with in the field onsite training.

Matt always endeavored to achieve practical experience by immersing himself in every field of this area in designing the guests experiences available to him including:


• Themed Interiors & exterior facades, attraction architecture and master planning.
• Experience designing and envirographic design in "telling the story".
• Multidisciplinary skills for presentation renderings keeping consistant with in the "brand".


The use has been in events, immersive exhibits, themed retail, museums, shows, and theme parks worldwide. Most of the projects he has accepted and completed have been ( and are ) for major corporate global brand identities such as Disney, Six Flags, Coca Cola and more.


Matt was in a team that was awarded first place worldwide in originality within the guests experience for a themed retail shopping experience at Six Flags Theme Parks. The “Red, Hot, Gold Award” is kind of the “Oscar” of the Themed entertainment industry for planning and design from the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions. This project is also awarded the famed TEA Award from the Themed Entertainment Association.


Believing in “life long learning” and “continuous improvement” Matt attends conferences, forums, and seminars on a regular basis to obtain new competencies and knowledge about his field. He has been attending Harvard University’s School of Design accredited executive education courese works.
Matt was awarded “Alumnus of the Year” from Kennesaw State University in 2002 . He is an accomplished speaker who gives lectures at colleges and universities about opportunities in all fields of design and enjoys sharing his expertise and experiences with aspiring new designers and colleagues in "knowledge sharing".


Matt’s inspiration for his career is his grandfather “Mac” who was in experiential designing before it was an official professional expression. Some of his successes include a redesign of the FTD logo, designs for Lionel Toys, retail design for some of New York’s major shopping venues as Macy’s windows and more. He was acquainted with Walt Disney in the early years, and one of the original structural aircraft industrial design engineers for Lockheed Martin Atlanta.


Matt’s goal remains to produce the most creative and impacting imagery solutions that can be produced. While holding true to the historic accuracy of the storyline keeping the project on target meeting the goals, Matt keeps in mind quality, budgets and deadlines as major factors without loosing the integrity and quality of the original concept.
Contributing his ongoing achievements to his ability to not only design effectively, he also consults and manages the design process efficiently into production readiness. While employing diverse resources to continue through the production phase of the projects, Matt works hand in hand with fabrication facilities and service companies that are second to none worldwide.
